Policies & Declarations

Hugglescote Surgery is required to declare certain information on it’s website. These notices are listed below.

Call Recording Privacy Notice

Hugglescote Surgery has the ability to record telephone calls to protect patients and staff and other health workers. Patients are protected by the practice having a record of our conversations with you, staff and other health workers are protected from potential abuse.

We also occasionally use recordings for staff training and quality control. When you register with us, we will make this clear to you and we will also make this clear to you each time you contact us and via our web site and other sources of information. Call recordings are retained for a period of 12 months and are then routinely deleted. Any exception to the 12-month period would be agreed by all parties prior to storing.

Calls, or transcripts of calls, audio or audio-visual recordings or elements of the discussion you have with the clinicians that contain clinical information may be added to your medical records, but this will be clarified with you at the time. The recordings are stored on the practice telephone system.

GP Earnings Declaration

The average pay for GPs working in Hugglescote Surgery in the last financial year was £54,856 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 6 part time GPs who worked in the practice for six months or more.

“NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised by 31 March 2022 at the latest. However, it should be noted that the prescribed method of calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used for any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparisons with other practices.”

Bariatric Surgery Policy

Bariatric surgery (privately or abroad) – follow-up care

If you have had bariatric surgery (such as gastric band, gastric bypass, or sleeve gastrectomy) privately or abroad, your ongoing specialist follow-up and aftercare should be arranged directly with the provider that carried out your surgery.

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Integrated Care Board (ICB) have confirmed that ongoing routine follow-up for self-funded bariatric surgery is not commissioned within the NHS locally. Unfortunately, this means that GP practices are not funded to provide this service.

Our practice will:

  • Continue to provide your usual NHS general medical care.
  • Assess and treat urgent or emergency problems if you are unwell.
  • Refer you on if a complication or concern is identified that requires hospital input.

Our practice will not:

  • Provide routine bariatric follow-up (e.g. scheduled monitoring, dietary advice, structured blood testing, or specialist supplements) unless requested as part of NHS-commissioned bariatric services.

Patients can access private dietetic or bariatric follow-up services if this has not been included in their original treatment package. Information and advice are available at:
