Additional Roles

At Hugglescote Surgery, it’s not just Doctors and Nurses who can provide you with care. We have a team of specialists who are based at the practice too!

Clinical Pharmacists

Clinical Pharmacists work as part of our team to improve value and outcomes from medicines, as well as consult with and treat patients directly. This includes providing extra help to manage long-term conditions, and advice for those on multiple medicines.

Mental Health Team

Mental health and wellbeing practitioners provide wellbeing-focused psychologically informed interventions and coordinate care plans for adults with severe mental health problems.

Paramedics

A paramedic in primary care can recognise and manage the deteriorating patient and can manage patients with long term conditions, minor injuries, and minor illness. They can also support patients who require wound care, have fallen, have MSK problems, and have urinary tract or respiratory infections. Paramedics can supply a range of medicines including antibiotics and analgesics.

First Contact Physiotherapists

First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) are physiotherapists usually based in GP surgeries with an expertise in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions.

You can book an appointment directly with a physiotherapist via our reception team, which means you won’t need to wait for a referral from a doctor.

Our FCP will be able to help with:

  • All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
  • Arthritis – any joint
  • Possible problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bone, eg tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
  • Spinal pain including lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
  • Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, eg pins and needles or numbness
  • Changes to walking
  • Post-orthopaedic surgery
