Infection Prevention Control Statement
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Policy Summary
At Hugglescote Surgery, the health, safety, and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors are our highest priorities. In accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections) and Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidelines, we maintain strict, proactive measures to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across our practice premises.
Our comprehensive IPC policy ensures that all clinical and non-clinical practice staff follow standardized procedures to minimize the risk of infection transmission.
Our Core Commitments:
-
- Dedicated Leadership: The practice appoints a clinical IPC Lead and an Environmental Lead to oversee all daily cleanliness, decontamination protocols, and policy compliance.
- Rigorous Auditing: We conduct detailed, annual internal infection control audits alongside ongoing risk assessments of our clinical facilities and high-risk procedures.
- Staff Education: All practice personnel undergo mandatory, regular IPC training tailored to their roles to maintain high standards of hand hygiene and safe use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Continuous Improvement: We monitor and review our protocols continuously, reporting any significant safety events through formal investigation procedures to learn and improve.
