Bariatric surgery (privately or abroad) – follow-up care
If you have had bariatric surgery (such as gastric band, gastric bypass, or sleeve gastrectomy) privately or abroad, your ongoing specialist follow-up and aftercare should be arranged directly with the provider that carried out your surgery.
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Integrated Care Board (ICB) have confirmed that ongoing routine follow-up for self-funded bariatric surgery is not commissioned within the NHS locally. Unfortunately, this means that GP practices are not funded to provide this service.
