Following the ease of COVID-19 restrictions, nationally GP practices have been increasingly overwhelmed by the ever-rising demand put on their services. Hugglescote Surgery has been no exception. We share your frustrations with regard to your difficulties booking GP appointments. Unfortunately, the demand is currently higher than our capacity.

In order to offer improved safety and more appropriate access to care we are now offering more online services. We hope that these changes will make it quicker and easier to access our services and practice teams. We understand that it can be frustrating trying to access our team when the phone lines are increasingly busy, our new online access should provide a more efficient way to contact us.

How do I request help from the doctor?

  • Call the practice or use the new online form
  • You can send us a request via the online form for non urgent queries. A member of the team will read/review your request within 2 working days
  • Please do not submit medical problems as administrative queries, these will not be processed
  • You can contact the surgery via our practice email hugglescote.surgery@nhs.net for non urgent queries, prescription and sicknote requests

Our new online services are available between 9:00-15:00pm Monday to Friday, this service will be closed on weekends and ALL bank holidays. If you have submitted a request but become more unwell please contact us via telephone and in a life threatening emergency please contact 999. Please do not use this form in emergencies, if you are seriously unwell please contact the surgery by telephone as normal.

Routine Appointments:

calendar

Routine appointments can be booked through Reception.
Please note: you will need to register at reception for our online services or download the NHS app.

You can pre-book appointments with GP's 6 weeks in advance for telephone consultations and face-to-face for our Nursing appointments. As a result of the pandemic face-to-face appointments will be booked by your GP following a telephone call, all face-to-face appointments are subject to triage before entering the surgery. GP Face-to-face appointments are allocated a 10 minute time slot, if the GP thinks that you will need longer than this they will book more than one appointment.

Telephone Consultations:

Telephone Consultations are offered when a GP can deal with your problem over the telephone, saving you a visit to the surgery. A 10 minute time slot is allocated for a Telephone Consultation

Urgent Appointments:

There is an On-Call doctor available daily to offer advice over the telephone or see you if the problem is urgent for that day. You will be asked if it is a medical emergency for the same day and will be expected to take the next available appointment. The GP may arrange a face to face appointment for that day. Please be advised these may not always run to time due to the nature of the appointment. If you cannot attend your allocated appointment we may be able to off another appointment at another NHS provider, commonly Coalville Hospital.

Please note: if you suspect you have a URINARY TRACT INFECTION (WATER INFECTION)
Please ask at reception for a form (or download via the link below) and sample bottle; an appointment with the Nurse or GP is not necessary.
Please hand in your sample before 11.30am, your sample will be tested and we will inform you of the outcome as soon as possible.
